In operation since July 18, 1961, Cocatrel -  Cooperative of Coffee Growers of the Zone of Três Pontas, has consolidated itself as one of the largest cooperatives in the sector in Brazil, bringing together 5,000 rural producers in about 90 counties.

The Cocatrel headquarters, warehouses and main store are located in Três Pontas, south of Minas Gerais State, but the Cocatrel also has subsidiareis in the cities of Santana da Vargem, Coqueiral, Nepomuceno, Carmo da Cachoeira, Ilicínea, Córrego do Ouro, Varginha, and Santo Antônio do Amparo.

Cocatrel receives approximately 1.5 million bags of coffee annually in its warehouses, in bulk forms or bags. The Cooperative has the latest structure to receive, store, prepare and market these coffees, be they special or commodities. Our warehouses are qualified to receive coffee with UTZ, Certifica Minas (a kind of local certification with principles of sustainability), Global Coffee Platform (4C) and Rainforest Alliance certifications.

Supporting the diversification of its members activities, Cocatrel also has a silo with capacity to receive 300 thousand bags of grains such as corn, soybeans, sorghum and wheat.

In addition, the cooperative has a dairy industry and receives from its members about 20 thousand liters of milk, daily. With this milk, products are manufactured and marketed under the Cocatrel brand. They are: mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, "plate-shaped cheese", fresh minas cheese and half-matured minas cheese, yoghurts, pasteurized milk, butter, “requesón” (a type of cream cheese) and dulce de leche. Besides dairy products, are produced high-quality coffees, marketed in grains, roasted or ground and in capsules.

Besides credibility that Cocatrel has in the domestic market, since 2016 the cooperative has also started to export its coffees.

And that´s why Cocatrel stands as strong and trustworthy organization for more than half a century, generating employment, income and development for the South of Minas. The cooperative is in the constant search for the improvement of coffee cultivation and quality of life of the Community and its members.

On August 14, 1960, at the headquarters of the Commercial Association of Três Pontas, dozens of rural producers and several authorities linked to the coffee sector gathered for the founding assembly of the Coffee Growers Cooperative of the Três Pontas Zone. The objective was to defend cooperativism and, through it, to benefit, standardize, store and market the coffee production of its members, promoting and defending their economic, professional and social welfare interests. The COCATREL officially started operating on July 18, 1961.

Social Responsibility

The COCATREL develops social and environmental projects based on the principles of cooperativism.

In the environmental area, was created the Central of Gathering for Empty Agrochemical Container. The cooperative maintains a reforestation area with sustainable management for its consumption of firewood and treats effluents from the dairy industry.

The dairy industry's Effluent Treatment Station project is innovative: it is also geared towards environmental awareness.

In relation to the social benefits, it offers a health plan to its members, extended to the families, at reduced prices and with a high-quality standard. Education also receives support, as in the Digital Inclusion project, with participation in the creation of computer rooms in rural schools. Cocatrel also supports cultural, social and sporting events in the communities where it operates.
